Wealth Management - Barbados As An International Asset Management Centre.
Barbados is actively developing itself as a Global Asset Management Centre. The Government of Barbados is instituting several measures to develop Barbados into an attractive centre for private wealth management.
Proposals have been made for the Qualifying Investor Fund, a single regulatory regime that is appropriate for;
Family Offices,
Private Wealth Managers and
Small Groups of High Net Worth, Self-Managed Investors.
Barbados will be launching an international Stock exchange and international trading platform in 2010. This will enable local international investors to carry out Listing and Trading International Securities. This project is currently being undertaken by the Barbados Stock Exchange. This will enable private and institutional investors to be able to raise capital from Barbados as well as manage the resulting capital and securities in situ.
Plans are in place to establish the Financial Services Commission, which will regulate all non-bank financial activity; and proposals have been made to set up an International Institute of Financial Risk & Regulation, a global centre of excellence to train financial professionals in Barbados and the region.
International Arbitration - Barbados and the London Court of International Arbitration are pursuing an initiative to establish an LCIA Regional Arbitration Centre in Barbados.
